Being involved in the local communities has always been important to us. If you travel around Hancock or Deposit you’ll see many Beaver Mountain buildings, including the Hancock Chehocton Historical Association, Hancock’s Nature Center, Town Square, Little League dugouts, Deposit & Hancock Welcome Centers just to name a few!
This year we’ve had the opportunity to partner with Girls on the Run for their community project. The local garden has always given local families delicious fruits and veggies, but this year no one was able to work it. The girls decided to take on the very large job and it looks great! We helped them clean up and rototill the beds, added compost and planted lots of plants and seeds that Beaver Mountain donated, including peppers, tomatoes, cantaloupe, watermelon, pumpkins, peas, beans, squash, zucchini, cucumber and cauliflower.
Girls on the Run is a so much more than running. It’s a program for girls grades 3-5 that helps empower girls by building emotional, social and physical skills for life.
