A modern combination of wood, glass, and stone, its open floor plan is a breath of fresh air and its exterior charm puts it equally at home in the Finger Lakes or on a scenic Catskill hillside.
One of the defining features of this house is the deck. From the back door, it runs almost the full distance along the rear of the building, curves around the corner, widens out into a sunken relaxation/entertainment area, and then wraps around yet another corner of the home. This versatile, multi-tiered construction is beautiful, useful, and adds a distinctive note to the design.
Facing the front of the home, ascend three low steps or come up the handicap-accessible ramp and you’ll be on a small porch, about to pass through the main entrance. Walk into the home and find yourself in the massive living room that extends into a dining room area. As you turn to the left, you’ll be immediately greeted by a breathtakingly beautiful wall of windows that stretches from the floor to the highest point of the gorgeous cathedral ceiling. The homeowners designed the windows to bring the outside in, allowing nature itself to blend with the interior woodwork and become an integral part of the decor.
The dining space sits directly in front of a wide sliding glass door that, once again, gives local scenery a seat at the table. Just steps away is a full kitchen with a storage island and eat-on counter. Remarkably efficient, the space boasts ample counter and storage space, as well as glass-door cabinetry to showcase special treasures.
Two downstairs bedrooms can be used for sleeping or converted into office space, a sewing corner, or an exercise room. A full bathroom serves both bedrooms as well as any guests that might be visiting.
A beautifully crafted, staircase climbs up to a second floor loft that lets you gaze down into the main living area. It’s a beautiful view, designed to perfectly showcase the downstairs layout and the wall of windows. Here you’ll find a private master bedroom snuggled up into the peak, framed by two beautiful wood sidewalls and featuring a smooth, painted accent wall at the head of the bed. There’s also a bathroom, a closet, and built-in storage space along one wall. We have also created an alternate plan with the master bedroom downstairs and two bedrooms on the second floor.
So, does this floor plan give you ideas? Think about the elements you like best and how you’d integrate them into your own one-of-a-kind custom home design. We’re here when you’re ready to start brainstorming!
