Set atop of a hill surrounded by tall pines, Black Bear Lodge overlooks a beaver pond and provides breathtaking views of the foliage and the many types of wildlife that live around them. And yes, this includes bears, hence the name! The property has a rich history, as it was once the home of a sawmill over 100 years ago. Water from the top of the mountain was used to run the mill which sent sawdust to the bottom of the lake. When the owners purchased this property, they had plans to repurpose the stone walls that were once a part of the mill. Every stone used to surround the floor-to-ceiling fireplace were sourced from the property by the owner and his grandson. And in the center of the fireplace is a stone that is the shape of a heart.
Black Bear Lodge is a timber home that includes an oversized garage –big enough for two cars as well as the other wheeled vehicles the owners have, such as quads, golf cart, tractors, and more. The garage is a real standout feature!
Custom details fill the home. The lighting fixtures throughout the home are from Meyda, including the stunning centerpiece in the family room: a large circular light fixture that includes craftsman metalwork pine trees that hidethe fan blades, bringing beauty and function together. Nature Rails created the custom metal railings on the staircases. There are four hand crafted bear shaped posts which represent the owners four daughters. The kitchen boasts an impressive custom copper hood from Rangecraft and was designed by Northeast Cabinets.
Black Bear Lodge’s owners have a growing family and wanted to incorporate plenty of room for entertaining, sleepovers and visitors. With just under 4,000 square feet of livingspace the home provides ample space and uses every square inch with purpose. The dining room is right off the eat in kitchen, allowing for extra seating at the island while still being able to be together family meals. The gourmet kitchen includes every amenity the home chef needs to feed a group. The living room is the perfect place for a party, or to sit by the fire.
Upstairs includes a bunk room for the grandkids as well as another guest bedroom, a full bath, a loft with plenty of space for games and a stunning view over the living room that highlights the custom lighting and beautiful stone fireplace. The finished basement provides storage space and an entertainment room.
Outdoor living is a must for this family. The front porch provides a beautiful view where they can sit while drinking their coffee and the back deck has a private entrance to the owner’s suite that allows for quick access to the hot tub.
