Stepping into Roger & Linda Besser's custom-designed Beaver Mountain Log Home is an experience not soon to be forgotten! Their 3,500 sq. ft. home, nestled deep within the woods near Apalachin, NY, is appropriately named Hickory Hollow.

As owners of a charming antique shop in Owego, NY, just a few miles from home, the Bessers had the perfect opportunity to decorate Hickory Hollow from top to bottom with some of the finest, most beautiful antiques and collectibles available.

Linda has deftly created “themed” decorative groupings throughout the home. Enter the cozy living room and see a unique display of wooden buildings, hand carved and hand painted—perfect replicas of the city of Owego, NY. One of the most unique features of their home is a small balcony off the second-floor loft that Linda has decorated with antique teddy bears. This “Teddy Bear Balcony” depicts a number of bears cleverly engaged in many activities. One sits at an antique school desk, tiny pencil in hand, preparing her lessons. Another cuddly bear pulls an antique wagon.

For 10 years Linda and Roger had talked about building their log home. When they finally decided to move forward with their dream, they traveled to King of Prussia, PA to attend the National Log Home Show. They gathered information on over 80 log home manufacturers. One was Beaver Mountain Log Homes.

Through careful research the Bessers eventually whittled down their list to 25 potential candidates. Upon further scrutiny, the Bessers continued to narrow the list of 25 to 12, to 8, and then to the final 3. At the end of their search—3 years after it had begun—the Bessers finally chose Beaver Mountain Log Homes to turn their log home dream into a reality.
