Getting Started

1. Research
Understand the industry by reading log home magazines and browsing the internet. (Log Homes Council, NAHB, each company’s website) Determine the building system you prefer (full log or insulated half log, milled or handcrafted). Request information from companies and visit their home offices. Meet the people that you will be working with and see their product in person. Attend seminars and mill tours. Compare companies.

Another great way to research is by attending Log Home Shows. These are very informative and you can compare a lot of companies in a short amount of time. Keep in mind as you research to compare what each package includes. Beaver Mountain’s package is one of the most complete in the industry and includes many intangible items, such as customer and builder relations, intensive precutting, and the craftsmanship that goes into a Beaver Mountain log home.

2. Come to the Mountain!
After you have narrowed your search down to 3-4 companies, it’s time to visit! Make an appointment with your sales consultant and come to visit Beaver Mountain! Browse the showroom that holds many resources to show the many options that we offer (models of log profiles, corner styles, full log and insulated half log walls, door bucks, and more). Walk through our furnished model homes and imagine yourself living in your own log home.

We also offer Home Planning Seminars, Mill Tours and Log Building workshops, which are a great tool to help plan your home! You’ll get the opportunity to learn more about the home building process – from start to finish – during our Home Planning Seminar. Get a guided tour of our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility during the Mill Tour where our experienced professionals can answer your questions about the craftsmanship that goes into your home! After the tour, you’ll see our team build a few rows of a Beaver Mountain home right before your eyes! This is a great opportunity to ask questions about building your home and to see what goes into putting together a Beaver Mountain!

3. Plan
It is never too early to look into financing options, making sure the company is familiar with system-built homes. Look into American Log Mortgage or M&T Bank. Come up with a budget as well; a realistic vision of how much you can and are willing to spend. Buy land, select a site, and prepare it for construction (including looking into building permits and any variances you might need). Start thinking about what you would like your home to look like.

4. Choosing Beaver Mountain
When you choose Beaver Mountain, you will start with a design appointment, where you and your sales consultant will meet with our in-house designer to discuss your ideas and develop them into a house design. You will leave with floor plans and exterior elevation preliminary drawings. Then you’ll receive a quote and order approval drawings, finalizing your home order. Later you will be invited back to the mill to inspect your home as it is drystacked…and then comes delivery!
