The Gerald home proved to be a design challenge. Incoperating all their wants, needs and ideas wasn't easy. They wanted to entertain and they wanted multiple uses for their space. A chef's kitchen was mandatory but they wanted additional sleeping areas for their guests. They used lots of light and bunk beds on a lower level to create a guest suite that is welcoming but separate from the main home. One of the special features that they particularly wanted was an outdoor kitchen. This is a difficult challenge in the Catskills with its unpredictable weather, but not beyond Beaver Mountain's design team's skills. They agreed that there had to be some shelter but the kitchen was left open on the one end to extend entertaining space. By having the open space face the home, a certain amount of shelter is already established. While the home is spacious, it kept a cozy welcoming feel by clever furniture use to create intimate areas. The multi-faceted red cedar timber home was a huge success with the Gerald family. It was a culmination of many dreams all in one home. The reality is stunning. View Floor Plan
